Q: Is it permissible to intend a qurban as aqiqah with the same animal?

A: There are two acceptable views according to the shafie madhhab.

Imam ibn Hajar is of the opinion that it is not permissible to join the two intentions together in one animal.
Imam Ramli is of the opinion that it is permissible to join the two intentions in one animal.

Conclusion: It is preferred to separate the intentions with two different animals. As this is the more precautionary view.
However, if anyone is incapable of buying or getting two different animals then he may act according to the opinion of Imam Ramli.

قال ابن حجر في تحفته: أنه لو نوى بشاة الأضحية والعقيقة لم تحصل واحدة منهما لأن كلا منهما سنة مقصودة ولأن القصد بالأضحية الضيافة العامة ومن العقيقة الضيافة الخاصة ولأنهما يختلفان في مسائل كثيرة تحفة المحتاج:4\265 وقال الرملي في نهايته: ولو نوى بالشاة المذبوحة الأضحية والعقيقة حصلا خلافا لمن زعم خلافه. نهاية المحتاج :8\146

Q: When does the takbir officially begin and end for eid al adhha?

A: According to shafi'i madhhab the takbir starts from the time that Dhur enters on the day of Eid until Fajr on the 3rd day of tashriq. (in other words 3 days after Eid).

According to some Shafi'i scholars the takbir starts from Fajr on the 9th Dhu al-Hijjah (in other words the day before Eid) Fajr salah, until Asr on the 3rd day of tashriq. (in other words 3 days after eid).

   قال النووي في المجموع: فالحاصل أن الأرجح عند جمهور الأصحاب الإبنداء من ظهر يوم النحر إلى صبح آخر أيام التشريق . وإختارت طائفة من محققي الأصحاب المتقدمين والمتأخرين أنه يبدأ من صبح يوم عرفة ويختم بعصر آخر أيام التشريق. المجموع 5/34   

Q: Is it permissible to give certain parts of the qurban/udhiyyah meat to non muslim , since there are parts which cape town muslims are usually not accustomed to eating?

A:It is not permissible to give certain parts of the slaughtered animal to the non-muslims, but if there are certain parts of the slaughtered animal which the muslims are not inclined to eat, then it will be permissible to give those parts to the non muslims rather than throwing it away.

Q: May one perform a sacrifice on behalf of a deceased without their instruction?

A: According to the shafi'i madhhab, to sacrifice an animal on behalf of a deceased person if he had made a wasiyah will be allowed, otherwise a sacrifice may not be offered on his behalf, but we may intend that Allah join him in the reward.

There is an opinion of Abul Hassan Al-'Abadi that we may join the deceased as a partner of that sacrifice. That is slaughter on his behalf.

In conclusion: if a person want’s to sacrifice on behalf of a deceased, then one may do so without any fear of dislike or prohibition.

قال النووي في المجموع: أما التضحية عن الميت فقد أطلق أبو الحسن العبادي جوازها لأنها ضرب من الصدقة والصدقة تصح عن الميت وتنفعه وتصل اليه بالإجماع . وقال صاحب العدة والبغوي : لا تصح التضحية عن الميت إلا أن يوصى بها وبه قطع الرافعي في المحرر . وقال الشيخ ابراهيم المروروذي وصاحب العدة وآخرون: ولو ذبح عن نفسه وإشترط غيره في ثوابها جاز. المجموع 8/233

Q: May one sacrifice an animal that has been castrated

A: Yes it's permissible to sacrifice an animal which has been castrated, because as far as an animal is concerned, for the sacrifice, that animal should be healthy and free from physical deficiencies which would cause a deficiency in the quality and quantity of the flesh . Castration is not seen as a physical deficiency of this type. It is mentioned in the hadith that the
Prophet s. a .w sacrificed two large, fat, horned, black-and-white castrated rams.

قال الخطيب الشربيني في المغني: ويجوز خصي لأنه صلى الله عليه وسلم ضحى بكبشين مأجوين أي خصيين رواه الإمام أحمد وأبو داود وغيرهما والخصي ما قطع خصيتاه أي جلدتا البيضتين مثنى خصية وهو من النوادر والخصيتان البيضتان وجبر ما قطع منه زيادة لحمه طيبا وكثرة مغني المحتاج 6/126
